New Games Are Coming
Happy New Year everyone. The completed games have (finally in some cases) been scored and new ones are on the drawing board. Keep your eye's peeled here and on your mailboxes for announcements later this week.

In other CM news I finally ordered a new server box this evening. In a couple of weeks AutoTroll will return to an independent box and no longer be hogging up primary PC. - ][avok

I just wanted to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and thank you all for helping make this site one of the best VGA Planets communities around today. Thanks and have a great holiday!

Christmas & New Years Breaks
We have 2 big holiday's coming up over the next week and if you need a game paused so you can go on vacation, will be away from computers or the internet, etc. you need to email me ASAP. Many of you already have, and I thank you.

Please do not post your request in the forums and assume that I'm going to see it. Email me directly at any of the usual email addresses. Thanks and have a safe and happy holiday!

11.14.09
November Nor'easter
Evening folks. After a 24 hour power outage, 48 hour internet outage and a fried server we're back online. There's no loss of data and games are picking up right where the left off. Thanks for your patience! - ][avok

11.12.09
Inclement Weather
Afternoon players. I just wanted to give you a heads up regarding the weather here in Virginia. Over the last 30 or so hours we've been getting pounded with wind & rain. There's been some fairly extensive flooding in several cities and so far we've been lucky and the power has remained on. However with the storm likely to worsen this evening, there's a good chance that could change.

So if you don't get your turn.... you know I'm in a power outage or a tree has come down and Auto Troll isn't the culprit. If we go offline I'll use my phone to post an update on the forums.

11.1.09
Three New Ones
Good morning everyone. Three new games are now available for joining.

Site Update - It's Fixed!
Good evening everyone. Thanks for your patience over the last few days. I'm happy to report that the online forms are now working again and for those of you with Circus-Maximus.net email addresses, you should have no further problems sending mail to the host account in Auto Troll. If you have any technical difficulties please don't hesitate to let me know!

10.24.09
Busy Busy Week
Hey everyone. Apologies all around for the delayed update of site news this week. Some of you may or may not be aware that we had to move the server CM resides on to a new service this week. Long story short, the partnership for our dedicated server dissolved and I found myself with roughly 48 hours to get a new host server and then get about 40 domains transferred. It was no picnic.

Some of you seem to be having some DNS issues due to your ISP's not updating their DNS servers regularly (usually about every 24 hours in this day and age). However as an alternative I would suggest using a service like OpenDNS. Their DNS servers update hourly and it's free. I've been using them for several years and have yet to have a DNS related issue with them.

Regarding the games. For the most part, the currently running games have gone uninterrupted. I've only had to roll back 2 games at this point due to DNS interrupted mail delivery and there's a possibility I may have to roll back 2 more. We'll see as soon as I hear back from a player. If you are having email problems you need to let me know ASAP via private mail in the forums. Do not assume I'm going to catch every public message. I also suggest using a secondary email account if the primary isn't delivering or vice versa.

Star-Port.org
Steven over at Star-Port.org has a pair of new games seeking players. One is a Vanilla game like the No Frills games here and the other is called Keep Alive 2 and appears to be an Invasion scenario. Several of you have asked about new games so I thought I would pass the word. Check Steven's site out. - ][avok

We have a couple of items to report today.

First, an old VGA Planets hosting site has come back online. It's called High Command and is run by Matthias. The link has changed and it's now located at HighCommand.net. Pop on over there and update your bookmarks.

Our second item is the version 2.0 release of Matt Clouser's "Alpha Quadrant" scenario. It's now available in the downloads section and we'll be hosting a game with it soon, so keep your eye's here for that announcement.

Have a great week everyone! - ][avok

Happy 4th of July
While we give thanks for our Independence this weekend, be careful if you're out on the road. If your going to a party and having to good of a time, make sure you have a ride home and don't get behind the wheel. :)

Games will continue to run on their normal schedules unless pauses have been requested.

PCC2 beta 6 Released.
This release adds several improvements, but probably no big surprises.

Wrapped maps work much better now, as does ship building.

PCC2 now learned the PCC 1.x "team" feature. You can define other races to be your team-mates, which will make PCC2 display them as allies in the starchart, and allows you to display scores by team, not just by player.

In addition, wrapped map support and map display in general was improved, as was general font rendering.

Get it as usual from
http://phost.de/~stefan/pcc2.html.

PCC 1.1.17 Released
New options & fixes.
Important new things:
- Can display gravity well outlines on the map.
- Displays chunnels on scanner charts, and simplifies setting up chunnels.
- Can review command messages.
- Auto-waypoint predictions no longer cease to work when ship runs out of fuel; simplifies setting up long routes a lot.
- cargo summary from next-turn ship list shows predicted next turn cargo.
- Simulator can simulate Commander, PlanetImmunity, FullWeaponry specials.
- Score chart includes grid lines (decay lines for PAL build points).
Keymaps reorganized; it is now possible to define a key that should be active on the ship screen, but not when locked at a ship in the map.
- script interpreter supports bitwise operations (BitAnd etc.).

As usual you can get the new version from
  http://phost.de/~stefan/pcc.html

There is also a new version of the standalone battle simulator CCBSim.
