The Birdmen Guide To The Galaxy

The idea of compiling a Birdmen FAQ was developed in the high-days of the Galactic Guilds. The initial idea was to create a file that should be the first help for newbie Birdmen players and that should answer their first questions, and by doing so removing some of the workload from the feathered shoulders of the Birdmen Guild Master.

However it was not until six months after the sudden extermination of the immortal Guilds by evil forces in the Battle of Krell that I, Alistair MacBird, started writing this guide to help the early Birds through the first stages of their existence.

The opinions about the Birdmen are quite in contradiction. Some will say it's a perfect race to start with while others will tell you it's a race for experienced players. The truth is always simple: you can play any race you want as long as you know how. That's where the Guide comes in. (More)

Strategie für die Birds

Since there is so little written about good birdman strategy (the dred lord battle manual has all of about 12 lines), I though I'd share a couple of things that I've learned in a recent game I've played. Take what you like and ignore the rest.

Birdmen Chunnel

You're playing the Birdmen, and you're fighting against the Borg (or in general against a race with FireClouds). The 'Birdmen Chunnel' describes a way to chunnel your fleet deep inside the enemy territory using captured FireClouds. (More)

DJ's Birdmen Guide

Yes, Swifties are good scouts at the start of the game but quite soon you will be wondering why you built them. There lack of fuel, ability to hold almost nothing and worst of all they can take only one mine hit. By about turn 20 you should have a few Resolutes skulking about spying on the enemy.. Why?? In HOST 3.2 the Resolutes and DarkWings don't need fuel to cloak so they can sit in enemy territory for as long as you want, the Swifties cannot. The Resolute can tow things out of orbit ( if there is a ship protecting a LDSF in orbit then just tow out the LDSF and attack it ) and if used makes them deadly. (More)

Birdman Manifesto: Birds with a Bite

This is no newbie guide, if you are looking for help on how to run your economy, or fail to understand what PBPs are, how the friendly code battle order works or how to employ diplomacy effectively, you better look elsewhere. However, this text might inspire you with some malicious thoughts. (More)
