Could be that it popped before your ship arrived at the planet. Especially if its a Sphere game. I can't remember if there's 2 times in host order that poppers go off or 3 like Lokis...

Alright then.

Well done Sam. This was a difficult game with all the HWs right along the edges.

Time to end this one?

The Crystal player is starting to run away with this one. He's had a lot of time to develop and build mostly unmolested. I'd bet he has huge stocks of torps. I don't see anyone as being able to put any pressure on him any time soon. It looks to me like he has 1st place locked down. 2nd and 3rd is cu...

Errr. Looks like you did that. I don't know then. That always works for me when I'm doing my turns on different computers.

If you look in the VPWORK# file you should see a bunch of files named ev[turn#]r[race#]. Copy all these over and you'll get all the prior EV info.

I'm thinking of DWs with XRAYS & Gammas which you'll see a few of especially playing the Priv against them. I don't ever see Mk 4 DWs from experienced Bird players. You can get very good odds of the Bloodfang getting captured and the Dark Wing getting damaged but not destroyed if you set the fighter...

Re: Priv vs a cloaking race

So how does the Priv steal ships from a race that cloaks? Say the Priv have to fight the birdmen, how do they go about stealing a darkwing and such? If the Bird player is good the only chance you'll ever get to Rob a DW is when its left damaged from destroying a SB. He'll repair minehits in space b...

Well I guess you must have had other ships at the planet that changed the Friendly Code to 'bum'. If the Dreadnought started the turn at the planet you took a risk that it could have been Force Surrendered depending on whether it was set to SuperSpy or Kill. My first instinct is that the Dreadnaught...

I'm not clear completely on what happened. A couple points though that may help: The Friendly Code had to change before movement so it couldn't have been the carrier that changed it if it was moving to the planet that turn. But I'm confused by your post whether these ships were set to KILL or SUPERS...

Yes it would have worked. But knowing there were other 2 engine ships in orbit then to avoid that battle you were faced with the choice of: 1) If you have the lowest ID ship of those with 2 engines, tow another ship at that location at Warp 1 into the warp well to avoid any tow locks on your ship. 2...

Possibilities that come to mind: 1) You screwed up and set the warp setting to more than Warp 1. I've certainly made this mistake before. 2) There was another ship orbiting the planet with yours. It towed your ship at more than Warp 1 into the well which sucked it back to the planet. In effect it ke...

When I first starting playing VGAP I used to build less mines than I do now. Then I started getting some strong experienced allies and noticed that they were getting much better fleets than me by ship limit. Not building enough mines wasn't the only reason but it was the biggest I think. Probably th...

I think you'd be better off with more than 50 mines on the average planet. Especially pre-ship limit but even later in the game. *You'll get more big ships built before ship limit. I suspect you'll often run short of DUR in the early game if you follow the strategy of building Transwarp LDSFs early ...
