Re: VPA V3.66 Beta 3 released

Ok, I understand it. Do you know if i can use netbeans to compile the source? I've never used mingw and netbeans is what i use at work, so i'm more familiar with. I don't know -- in particular because I don't have a feeling what Netbeans actually is (does it come bundled with a C++ compiler?). For ...

Re: VPA V3.66 Beta 3 released

But i think you should consider moving it to java or c and do something like ,well, like VPA but without the need of dosbox. [...] With Javafx or opengl and other technologies, shouldn't be hard, if you have the time that is. This has been suggested a billion times, but the answer always has been t...

Re: Winplan players

Winplan yes, Winplan32 no. Winplan 32 only have a few extra features in. For most it is the same. You can even run them in the same planets directory side by side if you want. Be sure to use the right version of Winplan32. As players on my host have found out the hard way, there is a version that c...

Re: Flak feedback

I noticed in mass battles that all the ships fire all weapons on one ship at a time. I'm not sure if numerical FC has any affect on the order of battle. It would interesting if there was an ability to change this behavior and set a group of ships to attack different enemy ships. The ability to team...

Re: Flak feedback

I noticed you had a online version of pcc2 or something like that last summer. I didn't look at it at the time. I have plenty of server space / bandwidth etc if you're interested in beta testing it from another site. My servers run on CentOS. PCC2 Web is specifically designed to be able to run on o...

Re: Flak feedback

What we need is new hosting software. I don't see Red Troll doing that. Besides in this day and age server side would probably be best. Well, maybe you noticed that I'm building exactly that: server-side hosting software :-) It's probably not as easy to set up as AT, though (source code is here , m...

If that remains a problem, I could try to find a way to include FLAK combat in util.dat; I hope AT sends that :-)

Re: Square gravity wells and echoview

Well I'm not sure in what game this is the problem over here. In FedWar2 they are round. ### Ship Movement AllowNoFuelMovement = No AllowGravityWells = Yes # AllowHyperjumpGravWells = same as AllowGravityWells GravityWellRange = 3 RoundGravityWells = Yes UseAccurateFuelModel = No The game I was hav...

Re: Bad Turn

Ron one of the things I do is use the maketurn process in PCC. I never have errors like that anymore since I started that. If someone else messed up the game data, PCC will not help. It will just pack the mess into a turn file. PCC will help if your regular maketurn routine messes up the turn files...

Re: Bad Turn

I suggest using Stefan's Check utility. It's a simple command line program you can run called 'Check' which will verify your game data. It's available here: http://phost.de/~stefan/playutil.html#check Just for the record: in this particular case, the checkturn message already contains a planet Id. ...

Re: Ship with no fuel can defend itself in Phost games?

NUK code causes the planet to attack the ship, with or without fuel  Ron Yes but I didn't think a fueless ship could defend itself. @Havok - no starbase there. What else should it do -- sit there twiddling thumbs? If a ship is attacked (by the NUK planet), it will defend itself. It just canno...

Thanks again. On another note: I notice that the vcr's do not reveal torp amd beam information the way it is shown in a standard vga game. Is this an intentional thing, am I missing something or maybe it just hasn't been implemented into the design yet? bel Press "l" to get a detail view. I haven't...
