Re: Donovans mine formula

But I'm not interested in just 0 hits, I want to know the chance to get multiple types of hits. So I was working on an excel array for the computations and it did not match up. OK. Since I'm bad at memorizing formulas, I usually derive those on-the-fly. You want to move D light-years, hit N mines, ...

Re: Donovans mine formula

But then in the example for 30 ly, they state: Assume a 30 light year mine field, with normal configuration p=1% (which means 0.01). We want to know what the probability is of crossing it without minehits: B(0,30,0.01) = (30/0) * (0.01^0) * ((1 - 0.01)^ (30 - 0) ) = = (30! / (0!)*(30 - 0)!) * 1 * (...

Re: Only in VGA Planets...

Only in VGA Planets.. .. can you find roaches in your kitchen, declare you found insectoid natives hiding on your planet and then tax them  Hmm. The vermin I find in my area usually is pretty amorphous. That is, unless I apply the Glory Device spray timely enough, they start eating five cl...

Re: PCC 2

I don't like it. Obviously didn't get a ship built with it. I do have a whole bunch of spare parts though. That probably means you forgot to press Enter or the "Build Ship" button on the ship build screen. Actually, I believe ship building is simpler than in Winplan or Dosplan. You do not have to b...

Re: HELP!!!

I currently use PCC 1 because it's complete enough (Tim's DOS client misses some important features) and I can run it in DOSbox on a UNIX machine. Does anyone have any experience with running PCC 2 on UNIX? Sure. Actually, I programmed (and tested) most of it under Linux. According to its website i...

That's not a special option. That's a totally normal option :-)

(But the FLAK integration still has room for improvement.)

Re: Welcome to T-Flak 1

I'm really surprised more people haven't signed up for this. Have all the players reached critical mass on their amount of games? At least that's the case for me. I'm (still) in one game, and cannot with good conscience play in two at the same time while still keeping my day job - and my VGAP proje...

Re: PHOST Q&A Forum

There are two implementations of the FLAK viewer. The one based on CCBSim has just circles and crosses. However, it features a pretty cool "3-D" camera work. The one integrated into the recent PlayVCR can display hull pics, but has just isometric or top-view camera. To get the hull pics, it needs to...

Re: PHOST Q&A Forum

Well, it's been almost two weeks with no response from Dale Pope, so I'll ask again - is there anyone out their with PHost experience that can shed some light on my Killing Floor problem? Probably not the one you want to hear, because my experiences with TKF rather closely match yours. I never got ...

Re: A Clock for the Troll

I implemented a real time countdown to the next host time on each game page. As the game pages are updated they should all get it. At this moment NF 93 already has the new stuff. Let me know if you find any issues with it. It require that you have javascript support active in your web browser, else...

They have CHRISTMAS on Qo'noS? I would have expected something like "Kahless' birthday".

Re: Special Mission Question

Possible Solutions: Do I use the "Special Mission" (Extended Mission 31) under the Extended Missions menu? Or should I use the "build fighters/gather mins" special mission? Or is it something else? "Special Mission" (#31) is intended precisely for this case. "Gather-build fighters" (#32) does the s...

Re: PHOST Q&A Forum

I have questions about phost 4.1e.Mainly about documentation. 1. The phost docs uses the term "ship slot". It also uses parameter NumShips in pconfig.src. The tie between this terms is not clear. As i read the docs , i assume the quantity of "ship slots" is the "NumShips" - "The number of ships is ...

Re: Winplan under Windows 7

First - I think it's great that I can still play with my new machine, so a big "Thank you!" Second - the old Winplan allowed you to have the planetary build and the planetary survey panels up at the same time. This was a big plus when trying to decide how many mines to put on a planet. I'd love to ...
