Have you dug through the FTP site here? I've got everything from the old FTP Berlin in there in addition to a ton of other programs that are not listed on the static download pages on the site.

ftp://ftp.circus-maximus.com/pub/VGAPlanets/

PS. If you locate something elsewhere that I don't have available in my FTP area, LMK and I'll put it in there. Thanks

Nope, I looked Havok, and cant find PACT or the CCBSim..... but i am visually impared......... or stoned, whichever gets me the most sympathy 8)

I accept from the stuff i have read it is an old program, but the section from Donovans obviously sets out what i want it for

From your race guides
http://www.circus-maximus.com/birdman3.htm

A Special Equipped Dark Wing
To capture the FireClouds you need a Special Equipped Dark Wing. Use the new Windows based battlesimulator called PACT, sim every one of the 110 possible battle outcomes of a X equiped Dark Wing vs a 6/10/10/10 FireCloud (FC with tech 10 engines and weapons) at the Engine Shield Bonus host config setting used in your game
.

From Donovans

http://www.xs4all.nl/~donovan/museum/el ... ppact.html

PACT is a Windows based combat simulator for VGA-Planets games hosted by Tim Wisseman's Host.exe. Unlike any other existing battle simulator, PACT only shows the outcome of the battle. And it doesn't stop there: PACT can show you the outcomes of _ALL_ possible battles. And it will do it within a couple of seconds!
No more tedious waiting till the simulation is over. One click on a button will give you all information you want immediately.

and the reply from Stefan Reuther

I've seen a beta version, back in 1999 or so.

If I recall correctly, it cannot do anything a current CCBSim cannot do.
Its key feature was that it simulates complete series of fights. CCBSim
got that ability around the same time. One advantage it kept for a while
is that it allowed completely custom ships (such as an MBR with 10
tubes). But CCBSim now also does that.

The remaining advantage is that PACT is a native Windows program.
However, EchoView shares that property as well - and it uses a DLL from
PACT to do the actual simulations. EchoView also shares with the PACT
version I've seen the disadvantage that it cannot display the fight
(i.e. ships moving around and firing torps).

Stefan
According to the Midspace Website (News item Jan 20th, 1999) development of PACT was transferred to Timo Krieke and Jan Klingele when he was unable to participate any longer. From there it seems that the program may have never come out of Beta.

http://www.midspace.com/vgap/textlatest.html

Also, back over at Donovan's site, at the top of the PACT page it says

"PACT is not yet available. PACT will be FreeWare. When it is released, you can find it right here!"

http://www.xs4all.nl/~donovan/museum/el ... ppact.html

I'm thinking your best bet for finding the software would be to write Timo directly. Good luck.
