The mother-in-law presented me with a box of stuff (watches, lighters etc) to value/identify/check if copies.
No idea how come this became my job, but one of the items seems to be from your side of the world.
It's a zippo style lighter called a Konwall Super, made in Japan but on the front has a warship silhouette, with U.S.S. Helena CA-75 underneath. I found a site about all the Helena's but nothing on anything they produced like souvenirs.
It's well worn, but i wondered if there were collectors for this sort of thing out there ???

Hard to tell about collectors type of stuff like that. Most ships, and units have these kind of Zippo lighters. I have several, 29palms comm/electronics school, Camp Hanson 7th comm, USS Blueridge, and a few others. Have them on a mantel with Awards, and medals, in the Den.Six_Of_One wrote:The mother-in-law presented me with a box of stuff (watches, lighters etc) to value/identify/check if copies.

They are mostly collectable by those that served on those ships or duty stations.
You might want to ask you mother in law what was she doing in early 1960's and if she remembers the US Sailor who forgot his lighter? And what was he doing that made him forget?

Sorry that was rude, but it is still funny. Just had some funny Port o Call memories, and wondering how many things I have lost, and had no idea where I lost them at.
Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference.
