Second Life

I've been checking out second life recently. It's very very geeky, but also interesting.

I'm wondering how it might work to have a 'Circus Maximus' room there and be able to chat about stuff in an IM kind of way. The really cool thing about second life is that you can chat as your Avatar....

Many ppl checked it out so far?

im very new to it and am finding my way around.

It would be a very very cool place to discuss strategy as a team. Essentially same as IM, but within a graphically rich environment. Would be VERY cool if you could paste the starmap of a game on a 'wall' and discuss it. It's all doable im sure, but not for a humble horticulturist. I could provide snacks though...

I gave it a try a year or two ago. I wasn't impressed. It was very sluggish at the time. Maybe it's better now. Dunno. No interest, especially now that I've got a copy of Age of Conan.

I don't see it as a game place - but more of a meeting / chat place.

Off topic, but what was wrong with your computer?

][avok thought that it might be due to my puter originally having vista installed. Even though i migrated back to Professional, that the vista conflicts with planets was kicking in.

I wait with interest for my new games to see if the same happens, of if i have to only play on my old broken down machine

Just make sure your laptop (it is a laptop right) has enough video memory.

Go to Start > Run and type "dxdiag.exe" in the box and hit OK.

Let the diagnostic run, then save it as a text file to your desktop when it's finished. Then send me the file.
