hey everyone..ive got acouple of quick questions im hoping someone can answer for me or atleast point me to where i can find the answers.

1st...im building a desktop comp and got a lcd tv/monitor that im also goin to still use for playing my old x-box and as a tv..my problem is that it doesnt have the old rca connectors(i think thats what they are called) for the x-box or my dvd/vcr to hook up to it..its got hdmi, PbPrY and a coaxil ant connector...
is there any type of cable adapter or a converter that i can use to go from the rca cables to one of the imputs on the tv?...i wrote both samsung(the tv) and x-box but neither were any help!

and 2nd...ive almost got eveything ready to put the pc together..i bought a pretty good video card and then noticed that my motherboard has a built in one..i cant really find the specs on the motherboards one though and dont know which is better..
so what im wondering is; can i have both running in my comp without a problem? and do i need to do anything to keep any problems from happening? or should i just try out the motherboard alone?

this is the first comp im trying to build so feel free to dumb down your answer for me :P ...in fact please do!!

if anyone would like or need the specs on my comp parts to give me a better answer lemme know..

thanks!!!!!!!!!!

Yes there's an adapter... Check out NewEgg.com and you should find one there.

What you bought is definitely going to be better than what's on the board. It will use it's own memory unlike the one on the board which would steal memory from your RAM. You don't want that.

1. The best I have seen is S-video to RCA connector. (assuming you have somewhere on the monitor that takes S-video) The other option is a AV controller which would sit in between the X-box and monitor.

2. On board video is very basic and fine in an office to run MS office but otherwise should not be used. Most on board video controllers turn themselves off if they find a add-on video card. (This is a setting in bios if you wish to play with it)

Good Luck.

i did look around tigerdirect, new egg and acouple others..i really didnt find anything i thought would work..but ill probably go look again though. i still havnt looked at some other sites like compusa or frys...

it doesnt have a s-vid connector...whats the Pb, Pr and Y cables?...(red blue and green cables)
i tried hooking the rca cables to them and right now i get sound ok but only black and white video..i really dont care about getting a HD pic for my old stuff but color would help.. :)

the tv is a samsung and its a pretty good one but i guess since its a monitor also they had to limit the number of connectors to make space for the computer hookups..?? or they got a deal goin with x-box so i gotta scrap my old one and buy a 360 thats got the HD cables..
thanks for the help guys..

If you are getting B & W then you are almost there.

There will be a setting somewhere that says S-video or rca or composite (video output or video in)

Try each of these settings and one of them should give you colour. (The other option is make sure it is set to NTSC and not PAL, assuming you live in North America)

Vinny,

Gavan is correct. What he should mention is that you will probably need a manual switch to switch from you're normal TV watching (NTSC) over to XBOX. The converters for those are pretty cheap at a radio shack or amazon and should be at $30 on the high end side - I have one laying around here or I think I do. Problem you might have is the newer Samsung versions may not even have the standard CABLE (NTSC) hookups and only have HDMI or DVI. If that is the case you have buy an even more involved COMPOSITE to COMPONENT converter and the quality on that setup is questionable. Bottom line is you should be able to convert from a COMPOSITE (Yellow, White, Red) to a cable (NTSC). You will not be able to convert it directly to a COMPONENT (red, blue, green) with a white/red for audio. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need the converter...once I look for it and find it you can have it probably for shipping costs.

there isnt a menu setting on the tv to change it..its gotta be a cable problem like yall said..and i dont care too much about the quality as long as i get some color itd be fine!
