recovering from a computer crash

Hi all.

Hope you're all doing well.

Any clues on what this means when I try to launch Winplan 3.6.0.44 on a 64 bit Windows 7 machine?

Run time Error '339'

Component THREED.OCX or one of its dependancies not correctly registered. A file is missing or invalid.

Damn, I miss my old machine...

Make sure you're installing as an Admin. You may want to grab Winplan 3.6.45.

Thanks ][avok!

Ok - got a little farther, but now I get a message saying I'm missing msstdfmt.dll. Not sure where to find that.

@Gilgamesh, I suggest you use the very latest version. The new installer does install some controls that is needed (That will fix your first error). I have received and error report about the second missing file, so it might be one that we need to add. If the installer does not work for that, then you can search for it on google. You need to register it as admin. Give me feedback so I know if we need to add that to the next installer version.

Hi Bitmask. I actually downloaded the latest beta version as it was the only one I could find with the installer supplied. So I think maybe it is missing from the installer.

EDIT - I went ahead and downloaded the dll but when I try to register it says my version is not compatible. What version of the dll should I be using?

Hi Gil,

PM me your email address and I will send you the ones you are missing from my 64-bit machine.

I am using Winplan 32-bit 3.6.63
Just cause I am paranoid does not mean they are not out to get me.

I re-installed my OS over the weekend and ended up getting this error

"you need the following file to be installed on your machine msstdfmt.dll"

when trying to access the Buildings screen. I was able to resolve by getting a copy of the dll from an MS Exchange Tool package. Definitely needs to be added to the installer.

EDIT: Heh, since the re-install of my OS I've noticed sounds in the Winplan32 client that seldom worked before have started to work more frequently. Most notable are the hit sounds in the built-in VCR player. Also, when changing ships the sounds are more frequent now. Approximately 80% of the time it makes the noise, whereas before it was more like 20%.

I turn the midi and wav sounds off in options every time I start a game, and turn off the sound in the VCR. They were cute the first couple of times but just kinda get on my nerves now.

So it turns out the video chip in my old machine was the culprit. I should get it back in a week or two and all should be back to normal.

Cool. Hopefully cheaper than a new PC.

A couple hundred bucks as opposed to the 1,000 or so for the machine I was looking at. I'll be glad to get it back.

BTW - I did look at VPA - the exe won't run. Same problem as Winplan. It's not compatible with this version of windows.
