GAme Add ons

Again a newbie question. As i have only ever played 'no-frills games' where can one learn a little about what add-ons there are and a brief description of them . Enema #1 is looking to pick on us newbies and once again i'm trying to get 'learned' ahead of time.

Cherek =maybe we could start a side bar on how to taunt your favorite space scum opponent. you know, give lessons on how to get the creative juices flowing ( of course -once again that implies they would understand:))

HA HA HA I Love this game--can't wait 'til i get good at it

Scroll down thru list of addons.

There are also strategy hints for some addons in the race pages.

I see-- after a quick glance ( an Ill return) it appears to add several options to the game, but I still haven't mastered the Thost version--so much to learn

Which is more popular T or P?

Tim's version is more popular, and easier to setup.

Phost is a rebuild of VGAP. Kinda built in the way they think VGAP should have been done in the first place.

I think most players prefer THost because PHost is an unknown. And unknowns in VGAP is bad, cause it means you will most likely lose.

Now that I think of I kind of like PHost!

I am in some ways tempted to convert fully to Phost simply for
the challenge.

I'd have to unlearn a mountain tho...

I think PHOST would have caught on if they made it easier to setup a game.
Just having something similar to Tim's HConfig would be an outstanding time saver.

When I 1st started playing, the host at Battlestar Command, had as many Phost as he did Thost games. Only real issue is when you are playing 2 games, one Phost and one Thost and you have the same Race in both of them. It can DRIVE you crazy. EchoView or VPA is MANDITORY, to play PHOST, to many little things, like Remote control, extended missions, Alliance control, just to name a few. Personally I prefer PHOST, and would love to see more people here start playing in them, and they would see how much better it really is. Granted there some that have built tactics that get blown out of the water. I remember 1 person SCREAMING BLOODY murder when he lost 4 LDSF's in a single turn, to a Rebel Falcon. He found out the HARD way, that Matching Friendly Codes don't work in PHost. Others don't perfer Tim's Mystery Math when it comes to ship movement, and HYP jumping.
Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference.
The US Marines don't have that problem.

With Tim you have the great concept and a non-programmers execution of code...

With PHOST you have a great dynamic game, but it's almost like it's from an engineer's point of view... So there's no ease of use and things like that. It's pretty much to technical for someone that just wants a vanilla game.

That would be cool.

Then all we'll need is a replacement for AutoTroll :)
