There's the problem I'm trying to figure out.
To win, player X wants to be #1 at the end.
To do that, player X must use diplomacy but not be limited by it.
To do that, there must be a way to ensure player reputation does not
get ruined by the backstabbing, alliance changing moves made within
that particular game.
Perhaps the thing to do would be to create a game that from the
start is intended to encourage Machiavellian moves.
