As for the Feds, maybe their special abilities / fleet aren't as flashy as some of the other races? Can't say that I've played them much either... I've become a fan of cloaking races more than "big ship" races.
I used to like playing the Privateers years ago. Loved it!!! But by God you have to be unemployed to play them properly (IMOP). Especially at a later point in a game.

You'll find out next time we're in the same game....

I might sound like a Klingon Evangelist here, but I really think if anyone gives them a good try and takes some time to learn the race, they'll love 'em!

Feds - I don't get it. A good all-round race with good ships and some great abilities. I'll have to give them another go sometime.

I think I almost found out in the last one.

Some races are more challenging to play than others, and I think the Klingons, Birds, and even Crystals are better suited to an advanced player who's either been around the block with all the races, or has just played the same race forever.

I actually debated long and hard as to whether I should make peace or just pillage your HW.

Borg and Pirates too. I'm having a heck of a time in Old School 2 getting a starbase built before I assimilate the natives.

If you count the Thanksgiving Blitz I've played everyone now and I'll stick with the Klingons, maybe the Feds. Odd that my top 2 didn't get much love in this survey. Do you think I'm odd???? :P

I'd answer, but that'd be the pot calling the kettle black...

I had a rotten position in that game, and even less minerals in that area. You could have put a pretty good hurting on me if you had wanted to.

I need to pic another race to play next time I join a game. I don't have the time to play the Priv's correctly... I've been thinking of playing a game as the Birdmen though.

I played them once and was so-so on them. Cloaking battlewagons are nice. Maybe I'll try them again someday.

I'm trying the Birdmen in two games right now. One game it's too early to tell anything and in the other game, Siberian Snake just cleaned my clock and is mopping up my remaining planets.

I think I know which game you're talking about..... :P

Wasn't Siberian Snake the guy that was worried about being rusty after being away for a while? Sure. I've been playing for 10 years pretty well constantly and I wish I was as rusty as him....

Yeah that's him. Looks like he's the silent deadly type :)

I really like the faschist...my only complaint with them is the crappy cargo room on ALL of their fighting ships...and most of their ships arnt big and flashy...but hey..its not the size that matters..just how u use it

i havnt been playing long enough to have a fav race yet...been wanting to try the borg and birds...mabey the robots....the Colonies are a real easy race to play as long as u get your economy goin...ive played feds and liked them..and the crystals...

overall though i dont know...i think i need to try some of the ones i havnt in the next game i enter..

I agree that klingons take alittle more effort to succeed...i tried to bring them back in the nf #91 game and got clobbered by ripjack and his feds...and in another game im trying to take out the liz...
in both games was/am outnumbered 2:1...poppers help alot...but it takes alot of strategy...u cant just send in your fleet and wipe the floor with anyone...

but like i said..overall i really like them and will play them again in the future...

Yeah - the Klingons aren't a "fight toe to toe" race. Tlist would help with that though.

Someday I'm going to experiment and see how I do with more of my fleet then usual as well-armed Coldpains to see if you can really succeed with guerilla tactics. Just hit with the Vickies when necessary. If you can tie the enemy up with cloakers early enough you may not need to engage them with the heavy stuff until much later if at all. Just a half-baked theory I'm thinking about....

Robots for me!

3 Golems
3-6 Insturmentalities (Depending on the economy)
2 Cats Paws w/Mk7

Your planets & ships are mine..... :2kcylon:

Also, the robots are the best mine laying/sweeping race in the game. You've got to love that 100 MK7 torps will lay a maximum sized mine field in one shot. That's always a fun surprise to the enemy - reach out & 'touch' some one 150ly away.

I've played:
Feds - I should give them another go one of these days...
Birds - never again - underpowered, sneaky, I felt morally guilty playing as the birds. LOL
Klingons - also, never again - Their style of play is completely opposite of what I like to do in the game. I just couldn't wrap my head around them.
Rebels - why bother when I can play as the Robots?!

I've also been meaning to try as the Borg one of these days, but I'm not sure, it's so hard to pass up the Robots in a game...
