Sadly, as cool as this little espianoge trick would be if it worked, it appears that the HOST does not allow the FCODE to take effect the turn the ship is captured as mentioned on Donovans site.
According to Donovan's site, http://www.xs4all.nl/~donovan/help/ordered.htm
the alliance fcode is checked first and tow capture happens afterwards. Meaning that you would tow/capture this turn and the alliance code won't be checked until next turn (that stage of host already passed).
It is a good tactic because on some occasions, the player who captures the ship, forgets to switch (or even check) the fcode.

Didnt read the whole thread, so i dont know if anyone posted this before.
AFAIK, host checks, if the fc of a ship is changed to 'FFx', not if a ship is currently set to 'FFx'. Writing this, the question about xtals or priv towcapturing remains justified, but the hostorder answers that as posted before.
