Any interest and/or suggestions on the map I posted? I've tested the addon, works okay, so if there's enough interest, I can look into firing up one or more of these grudge/duel games...

It's an interesting map but I can see a seige war going on with it.
IMO, low mineral universes would prevent that, but that's a game
negotiable thing.

The addon, with configurable shiplimit, very nice!

yes siege wars could perhaps happen, but the game winning conditions (esp. if multiple) may well take care of that. I like it - especially taking into consideration the effect of possible gravitonic engines and Hyper ability - need a little bit of space between them. 1100 ly means at least 3 jumps are required to get to someone else's HW area. I like it!

  1. Uses one of the following maps -- the challenger picks.
    Image
Approx 550x1350, approx 1100ly from hw to hw
    Image
Approx 550x700, approx 550 ly from hw to hw
  2. No special addons
  3. Challenged person can either pick race 1st or defer 1st pick to challenger; Privateers are out unless previously agreed upon by both players
  4. Victory condition is TBD by mutual agreement prior to game start
  5. Defaults that will be in place unless both players agree beforehand:
    • Max 200 ships in universe
    • Random rich universe (minerals & native)
    • Extra rich homeworlds
    • Very High population (3,000,000)
    • High starting money (5000)
    • Host runs every 72 hours, or when both turns are in
    • Other game settings are per the HCONFIG defaults, except that there will be 0 ion storms
  6. Any attempt to colonize the "nonexistent" planets (near 0,0 and 4000,4000) or attack/capture the "nonexistent" ships (near 0,0) results in game forfeiture

Started with New_Map 2.2 (clusters map type) to get the basic structure, then used MapWizard to move things around a bit & verify the 50/50 home cluster counts. Finished off w/ IMapGen2001 to put the extra 300 planets at the map's edges (it does it automatically when you load a map w/ < 500 planets, it appears), set the planet names, and fix the checksums.

Once I figured it out, it's not as bad as it sounds... it was figuring out what utils let you create a new map structure & then move planets around easiest that was the PITA.
