While I dont think it's a showstopper by any means, it would be nicer not to have to build up experience on a ship to get the extra features. When looking at the ship list, I opted to take a ship that I could use right out of the box, and ignore any additional benefits it might get later on. I'd rather be sending a ship into combat than have my border planets taken while its busy getting it experience levels up.

I also have a suspicion that I will need to take a certain combo of race, abilities and ships in order to get anywhere in this game, and anything less than this will result in a race that will have trouble competing with the others.

Just my 2c worth :)

Do you get experience from being at the casino? How about sunbathing?

Experience is interesting; I'd be willing to go either way with it.

tbh I see experience being a major advantage if played with certain race choices (Scotty bonus, Lizard bonus)-- I'd be more in support if those were picks that weren't being chosen for a game of this nature-- i.e. you are stacking even more bonuses on top of existing ones, and it seems like it might unbalance the game in the long run.

Still, I wouldn't mind play testing it to see how it affects the game in general. It's an interesting concept and can lead to creating little fleets of "Galacticas" to roam the galaxy.

Either way, I noticed that the game for Unnatural Selection 3 is up. I'm still interested and wouldn't mind giving it a whirl.

I dunno - I just looked at the shiplist and race choices again and thought it's a really cool scenario, then I looked at the experience thing and tried to figure out how long it would be before this or that ship could do what I want it to do. Man......

Yeah, the micromanagement might get a little overwhelming. We'll see, I guess.

EPShipAging = 15
EPPlanetAging = 25
EPPlanetGovernment = 0
EPShipMovement100LY = 40
EPShipHyperjump = 30
EPShipChunnel = 30
EPShipAlchemy100KT = 5
EPShipIonStorm100MEV = 80
EPCombatKillScaling = 800
EPCombatDamageScaling = 200

OK - can I get a bit of clarification on this please? For every 100 LY a ship moves it gains 40 experience points toward the next level. I get that. What are "ship aging" planet aging" "kill (and) damage scaling"?

Also

There are 4 Levels you can gain (0, 750,1500,3000,6000)

... Is 0 - 749 EP level 1 or level 0?

Thanks.

Every ship or planet receives this amount of experience points each turn, for just being there and doing nothing. With these settings, a ship will reach level 1 after 50 turns for just sitting there - not necessarily an effective tactic.

You start of with 0 experience (Level 0).
After 750 you are Level 1
After 1500 you are Level 2
After 3000 you are Level 3
After 6000 you are Level 4

Thanks. I assume this only applies to occupied planets? If so, what happens if my planet builds up experience for just sitting there, and then gets conquered?

...and is there any way to determine the experience level of an enemy ship, or is it just a crapshoot that my level 0 ship is facing the same hull with level 4 experience?

One question :)

Will the poppers with FC = trg activate when an enemy ship with an advanced cloak is present? Or is an advanced cloak enough not to trigger the glory device?

http://www.circus-maximus.com/AutoTroll/game242.htm

4.000 clans and 4,000 credits on HW to start? That will slow things down a tad, won't it? 2-3 LDSFs worth of colonists going off world and your HW is pretty much pooched.

Definitely a big boost to the Borg there....

chose a lower colonist tax rate, but 1.6 growth rate is my recommendation :)

The 4,000 clans and $$$, like the experience factor, is another one of those "hmmmmmm" items.

I played the Destitute game which started you off with low money etc so you were forced to look at the economy right away. Slowest game ever. I kinda like it when you have the means to expand fairly rapidly.

Everyone,

Once I open the game and you get a race slot (and your files) you will need to go to the following link to make your race selections.

http://vgap.innernet.co.za/customracecreator3.php

Do not do this until you have secured a race slot in the game.
Regards,
