Havok,

Must scratch soon.
Hopefully mid june.

Changes to fhconfig default:
Patrol off:
Fighter/Torp Fuel usage: 13
Ramscoop efficiency 10
Birdman torpedo cost in supplies 0
Pirate torpedo cost in supplies 0
Fascist torpedo cost in supplies 20
Crystal torpedo cost in supplies 0
Empire torpedo cost in supplies 20
Pirate FAX immune=yes
Birdman Cruise missile hit ratio 90%
Cruise missile web mines = yes.
Bird gate chance 20%

I think that covers the bulk of the problems we dug up during
three wing commander games.

Tentatively a smaller planet count (250) map but still 2000x2000LY.
More ships than planets and perhaps all eleven races.

Can you wait until July? There maybe a Fhost alternative/fix ready for testers.

Mid June is the earliest possible start for me so waiting till July isn't
a problem.

How divergent from FHost is your project?

No Patrols, just a CAP mission for Carriers and SB's. That way they can have x amount of fighters inflight around the carrier, group or Planet.
Fighter Attack, Fighter Bomb missions happen at the beginning of the VCR. Same thing for all Cruise missile attacks.
Cruise missile accuracy isn't based on distance but by missile tech. Stargates are more like Jumpgates, but keep the same point to point, and a planet can have a maximum of 3 Jumpgates. All costs of a Jumpgate are fixed.
Ranges for Cruise Missiles is 65lyrs(2kts Fuel) and Range for Fighter missions is 40lyrs(4kts Fuel)

TBH, if we've got the bodies, let's do both.
I'll help test your addon, but I want to play some more with FHost.

Regarding your addon:
Why such short range on the fighter(40ly) and cruise missiles(65ly)?
Are the ranges configurable?
Did you know that FHost used both tech and range for accuracy of CM?

I like the method used for stargates in FHost.
Short range was cheap, long range was expensive.

Do you have coretorp, sunbuster, deathstar beam?

Ranges are configurable. Cruise Missiles shot from more than 65lyrs can be swept. Carriers can only travel 81lyrs, so fighters can travel 80 lyrs , 40lyrs each way.
Deathstar beam yes. 5lyrs away from planet no closer no further. Gorbie must have zero damage, prior to firing. Firing happens after combat. Planet doesn't disappear goes either to 100 Temp or Zero Temp, Zero Minerals left, all life killed off, Happiness drops to -100, permanently.

Coretorp an Sunbuster, not exactly.
Enjoyed the point to point of SG's in FHost, and the HUB style as well. The mineral costs of the other side, was always hard to figure out until you actually tried to build it, just wanted faster action.

In Australia we have an advert for milk, the guy walks into the shop and asks for a litre of milk... the woman lists of about 20 different varieties and he responds with " i just want milk that tastes like real milk"

Which is pretty much how i like my Planets games

tho with an Armin flavour *wink*

fhost, phost, thost, flist, tlist, plist aaargh my brain hurts  it all gets confusing........

tho i would like another game with fleet battles, its what the original should have had by default.
Remember taking over the colonies on a site run by a " MATTHIAS", cant remember the site name, vaguely remember him being a member of the 3 stooges?? .. never defeated in a team game???.. memory aint what it use to be.. but i digress,

there was nothing sweeter than coming through the Borgs jumpgate with 30+ fully stocked Virgos and fleet battles :o)

So if your fhost thingy does something similar without a steep learning curve i might have shaken off the rust by then.

Matthias Degenhardt (Degi)? I think he set up 'his' games on the blutmagie.de autohost.
