He took the time to read through the abilities of the Crystal:

Self Destruction
When facing enemy boarding troops, Crystals have faced always the same fate: Where bi-pedal lifeforms sometimes could expect mercy, Crystals had always been beamed out into space. To avoid this tortures, they came up with two ways to prevent the capturing: Self destruction and the honor device (for last, see below at Opal/Topaz). To engage the self destruction, set SDS on the ship you want to detonate.
As this runs in the Auchost2 fase, it means that any ship that I tow capture, with Friendly Code set to SDS will blow itself up before the turn is over, and before I can have a chance to change the FC...

That means that in Power Games, the Crystal is unable to capture any ships if the opponent is smart enough to read the docs... #-o

Eh my bad. It does not happen as described above....

I actually tow captured a ship, and did not change the FC, so the next turn, it blew itself up :oops:
