If anyone out there is clever enough to reverse-engineer the code and extract the algorithm used to calculate the new planet positions (or better yet, if the original author can supply) I'm happy to create a spreadsheet in excel which will graphically plot the planet locations over X number of turns (as long as there is no random element of course)

well - maybe we shouldn't do that. If you manage to track it with near perfect accuracy, a lot of the challenge is lost.

I don't think it can be done anyway. There is some rounding in the equation that makes quite a bit of difference, 2 to 4 lys one way or the other.

Supertech was able to extract the formula for obiter and used it with succes in a previous game - he did not share the secret.

I am still testing my own theory - got it right twice but then the third turn the planet prediction was 2 LY wrong.
