Is this project dead now? Everything appeared to be going well and then nothing.

I think part of it was that we all got sucked into that black hole called Wing Commander II.

I read through alot of the email threads on this subject and updated the "New Hulls" ship list our local group came up with about 10 years ago.

We're currently testing out this shiplist in the "Cheap Shots" game right now.

So far most players like it alot, but we've only just started fighting.

Cherek,

I'll get back into this project after the 1st of the year.
SDC'06, RL, WC2 etc. canned my ability to put any effort into it.

If you're going to re-design the original ship list you might have a look at a current re-design of it, tlist 1.1:

If we are looking to fix list ship list again, one item we may want to address, lets look at and define ship classes. After all, when do Frigates weigh almost the same or more than a cruiser and have more firepower than a cruiser?

What list? What race?

so far, if you add them up, i like all the thoughts and changes on every race we discussed - which are all of them i think.

and renaming the ships to a more suitable class-name should be the easiest part of it. did we not already had such a class list made up?

so, once i am back home i might make some complete list and send it around.

till then...
have fun!

hi readers of this topic. i am a little confused over the ship-id of all the ships. does anyone have a complete and valid list, mine differs from that in tanascius.

and does anyone know why the ship-ids differ from the picture-id?

i need this to also get a better feeling of which ship actually belongs / was created for which race.

thx in advance
have fun!

For what'er reason, that's the way Tim wrote Winplan -- there's really no way around it, at least not that I've found. Decompiling HULLSPEC.DAT with Penguin or somesuch will show you a list of all the hulls & their corresponding picture ID; however, changing the pic ID & then recompiling doesn't actually change the ship->picture link.

lol, how utterly useless :P

ok, i tinkered a little. actually, the id is not so important for me right now, because i only do the thinking and no compiling/writing. but i wanted to know how Tim thought the ships to be like. like the red wind and skyfire. they have id and pics of priv-ships. so they should be viewed and handled like priv-ships. but i must stop myself right now, because i need to work on my diploma..... it is no fun though :(
