Why not lay off the home team for a second and spend some time discussing the good and the bad that you've seen at other VGA Planets sites on the web?

Bad News

I just recieved message from the VGA Planets Yahoo Group.

Looks like we lost our hard drive on the network computer. All
Hosting data for the last 10 years is unavailable.

Needless to say the host is down.

I will try and recover the disk on Sunday. If it fails The Last Domain
will be toast!

Regards,
Merlyn

It's a b*tch to do backup's all the time. Plain and simple... Everyone should do them, and IT people are just a guilty as anyone else.

I had a backup of my stuff that I lost on the 250 gig'r the other week, but it was old. Stuff just happens.

Honestly over the years I've done pretty good. I've only lost 3 hard drives. 1st 2 were Western Digital. I 'll never get another one of those again. Most recent was a Maxtor OEM. 250 gig SATA. That one hurt. Fortunately I've recovered almost everything from it, but the platter does have some damage to it and I lost about a year's worth of email personal and site related.

Updates from Merlyn about The Last Domain.

Well. the drive is totally dead. I will call "On Track" tomorrow for a
quote.

and

If worse comes to worse I will remake the last domain host and start from
scratch.

It will just take a few weeks..............

Tsk, tsk, tsk,
Come on, guys, you do a full back on Friday, and differintals during the week, only requires 2 tapes to restore your site.
Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference.
The US Marines don't have that problem.
