Akshamu.
Looks like your neck of the woods, but its the other pole. Working at McMurdo Station(77°51′S 166°40′E), and at Amundsen–Scott Station(90° 0′ 0″ S, 139° 16′ 0″ W). Will try to post more pics soon. Ones I posted were from the Nasa Balloon launching site. Have some from two trips to Christchurch I have made. Nice and Green to freezing ARSE white.
Really wierd being down at the extreme down under.

You should look up Hawkeye when you return to Christchurch and have a few pints.

Shardin,
How did you end up at the bottom of the world?
Understanding is a three-edged sword.
Your side,
their side,
and the truth.

I answered the phone from an old Friend. Needed work, money is GREAT.
Weather though, not so great. It was sunny outside today, currently -36f, and had a high of -30f today, if I did my C - F conversion right. No beer, food is ok. Internet is alloted out, only so much time online, plays havok with getting email from allies, before a game turn.
Bright side is lots for Sat work and, HF work. Who would have thought, in today's age, FSK would still be in use for comm.
LOVE MY TRUCK/BUS THOUGH, meanest baddest RED beast around. Will have to change out the shocks though, as it hard to see the dips and you bounce around alot.
Only get ABC, and thats an Aussie channel. The Librarians is pretty funny. Making Austrailia happy is weird, sorry guys, but it is. Still trying to figure out if Ali Moore, is trying to be funny or if somebody removed her funny bone. Midday news is when my shift ends, so I see her a lot. Her looks are growing on me, though. Hopefully with the parts and new system put in, I will have more internet time, just trippled the bandwidth here, but these NASA guys think its all for them.

Honestly that sounds like a great adventure. I tried getting into Operation Deep Freeze before I left the Navy in 92. I would have re-enlisted for the opportunity to go there. If I remember correctly at the time you spent 6 months in Antarctica and then another 6 in New Zealand. I probably never would have come back to the States had I spent time in NZ.

No, but I am taking some people to Dinosaur dig site tomorrow. Resting up today, and I get to do all sorts of odd jobs when not putting up or fixing Sat or HF equipment.

March/April, I may extend until next October though depending on Money and how the wife and kids are doing. I have 60 or so shots in my photobucket, I will send a link later, the Ice landing strip is kind of cool, so is Kiwi Town. Lots of Photo's of MCM bay, place is HUGE. Its one of those once in a life time trips. Granted I can stay as long as I want, but not sure how long. Working as a contractor for Rayethon.
