Testing Scenarios for home use

I have created some scenarios that you can use for your own home testing.

They are all easy to setup and run so that even the most inexperienced player can set it up and run test games.

Download the package testgames.zip

Follow the instructions in the README.txt and you can have your test game running in 3 easy steps:
1. Choose the scenario you want to use and copy contents of that folder to your hosting folder (No other file are needed)
2. Run the script to create the universe.
3. Run you host each turn and play your turns.


Test game configurations
========================

You can use these for your own tests.
There are 4 test scenarios to choose from:
* Tim Host using the original shiplist (THost-Original)
* Tim Host using the TList1.1 shiplist (THost-TList)
* PHost using the TList1.1 shiplist (Phost-TList)
* PHost using the PList3.2 shiplist (Phost-PList)

How to use
----------

Copy the contents of the folder of the desired scenario to your hosting folder.
I suggest for testing that you use the Game folder (VPWork*) that you want to use,
then everything is already set up and you can just play.
If you use a seperate host folder, you need to extract the PlayerFiles.zip to the
game folder together with the player*.rst and xyplan.dat from your host folder.

You need to run the 1_create_game.bat file once to create the game. This will set up
everything as well as create a new random starmap.
You can delete the 1_create_game.bat file from your host folder after it's first use
so that you do not run it by mistake later.

Depending on which race you plan on playing, you need to run the corresponding
2_host_as_*.bat for each host run. If you are playing the Feds then you need
to run 2_host_as_1Fed.bat each turn. This will run the computer player Space
Lord as all the other races and run the host.
I suggest deleting the 2_host_as*.bat files that you are not using from the host
folder and only keeping the one that you will use each turn.

After each host run, you need to play your turn before running the host again.
If your host folder and game folder are not the same (e.g. you are not hosting
in one of the VPWork* folders), then you need to copy the player*.rst and
player*.trn before and after each host run.

The setup used
--------------
The THost scenario are set up with the default settings.

The Phost with TList scenario are setup as we normally do with Brass Tacks games.

The PHost with PList scenario is setup for default PList settings.

Before I go and break anything, will this cause a problem due to the fact I am using the client for Win 7 64 bit ?

It is possible the the THost scenarios will not run in 64bit, but the PHost will work fine.
(Of THost does not run on 64bit, you can use the PHost-TList scenario. It's set up to run like THost)

The client that you use does not influence anything. You can use what you want.

Finally got around to trying this and the amaster won't run due to compatibility with 64 bit.

For Win64 you will need to download DosBox and run it in that.
