The Q and towing
The Q and towing
Anyone out there know how the Q achieves holding your ships onto his planets? Specifically, warp settings, waypoints, ship IDs used for towing etc...
Re: The Q and towing
What I can say about The Q is this. It cheats. It runs on during the host and has access to all TRN files as well as hosting info. That's how it gets it's edge and the best way to defeat it is by overwhelming it with brute force.Hawkeye wrote:Anyone out there know how the Q achieves holding your ships onto his planets? In addition, the Q is bad at dealing with minefields, and even worse than that at dealing with webmine fields.
Re: The Q and towing
Given the complexity of the game, I imagine that it is very hard to develop a computer player that can realistically play (any race) like a capable human player would. Hence, almost all computer players cheat to some extent and the host's challenge is to find one that strikes an acceptable balance of fairness and competitiveness.Havok wrote:What I can say about The Q is this. Q...
I wish Red Troll had put switches and/or variables on the cheats that Q has.
#1: Can Q see cloaked ships? Y/N
#2: Can Q tow cloaked ships Y/N
#3: Can Q intercept cloaked ships Y/N
#4: Ram scoop on Q ships Y/N
#5: Fuel created by Q ships Ram scoop per LY
I'm sure there are others.

A computer player with a configurable amount of cheating, sounds like a programming challengeB A N E wrote:Q...

Re: The Q and towing
Thing I noticed about Q.
Q ships that went through my Chunnel (they has warp 0 set) gained 2 fuel (1ly of ramscoop).
Q ships that are towed gain fuel. I ran out of fuel towing Q because he got heavier.
Q as an ally will ground attack you occasionally on the grounds of fairness.

Spacelord is the best
Only thing is that it does not like PList games (yet)

Re: The Q and towing
dear gamemasters!
is it possible to get acquainted with the configuration of the computer player The Q, that plays on your host? I already for the second time have to deal with it... and I suspect that he sometimes deviates from the rules of the game. simply, I want to know what can be expected from him. or tell me where to read about The Q.

Re: The Q and towing
The Q knows all. The only cplayer that doesn't cheat is Spacelord. It plays an RST just like a human. The Q and others use all the game data at host time to determine it's moves.
